When I Was Stuck Writing My Book

Updated: Jun 28, 2020

Never having attempted to write a book before, I was a little shocked to find that after only the fourth chapter, writer’s block set in and I got completely stuck.

"For two years I made little, if any progress, which I’ve since discovered, is not in the least bit unusual."

I love sharing my journey and the tools I’ve been using for the last 20 years. They really are an amazing set of tools and they’ve helped me grow in confidence, transform my thinking, get off the treadmill that was life and discover the freedom to be me. Something that was sadly lacking for far too many years.

Until recently, most of my sharing was achieved through the running of my workshops and by jumping at every opportunity to appear as a speaker, irrespective of the size of the audience. Eventually, the time came when I felt the need to share with a wider audience. I was ready to start writing my story, so, I picked up my writing pad and pen and made a start on my first book.

Never having attempted to write a book before, I was a little shocked to find that after only the fourth chapter, writer’s block set in and I got completely stuck. As time went by and inspiration failed to arrive, I started to realise that I had absolutely no idea what to do next.

For two years I made little, if any progress, which I’ve since discovered, is not in the least bit unusual. Whilst I was feeling increasingly frustrated at my lack of progress, I was also feeling more and more determined to get unstuck and find a way to get back on track. Then the Law of Attraction stepped in and I met Karen Williams, the Book Mentor from Librotas.

It quickly became clear that Karen could help me and it took me another two years, working with her guidance, to finally finish my book. Amongst other things, I realised that planning the book, before trying to write it, is really important.

Recently, Karen asked if she could interview me to capture my book writing journey. She felt that sharing it would be of help to other aspiring authors who were struggling to get their stories down on paper. As someone who loves to share, how could I possibly refuse?

You can find out more about my writing journey and my time spent with Karen in the following video of our interview.

Helping you discover the Freedom to Be YOU,

Azmina
